2016
It’s the time of the year to show our appreciation to you. Indeed, Taiwan is at a critical low, where improvements politically, economically and socially are not as dynamic as we might have hoped. Despite so, The Alliance Cultural Foundation (ACF) is on the right path, thus we see the silver lining!
In 2016, ACF is more focused on education, moving its focus beyond rural areas to island wide. In terms of experimenting with rural education, the Junyi School of Innovation has elevated itself with the Waldorf model. To overcome rote learning, the school prioritizes real-life experiences in the youths’ process of learning, helping them to develop critical thinking, exploration and expression skills as they make sense of the world they live in and prepare for the future... Taiwan can no longer wait
The reduced focus on vocational education, over-expansion and inflation of universities, and the phenomenon of academic devaluation have become social problems for Taiwan. For children in rural areas, this is unfair and may make them helpless as they have taken on education loans to go to college, yet not gain employable skills. The Alliance, with support from its partners, has been quick to refine its focus on education issues and ensure that the development of basic education is firmly established... Read more

2014
Our primary focus for 2014 is education. In December 2011, I assumed the role as Chairman of Junyi Experimental High School in hopes to form new values for education in Taiwan through innovative experiential learning, bringing in global resources, while offering youths from under-resourced rural and remote communities an equal learning opportunity. Since then, I have gradually guided our manpower, time and resources towards education. I look forward for the school to become an example for the possibility of successful education reform, particularly influencing rural and remote communities of Taiwan, as well as Chinese speaking communities worldwide that face similar issues... 2013
Promoting experiential tours has been a key step for our aim to creating sustainable development in the Huatung region. For the past two years, we ongoingly trained local travel agents and shared our business model for experiential tourism in hopes that they can independently run Huatung experiential tours and to involve more people to create larger positive impact on Huatung’s tourism, which will not only bring in more tourists, but will create more business for the agencies... 2012
December 2011, Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Association's, Master Hsing-Yun, entrusted us with Junyi School for Innovative Learning. Through Junyi, we hope to build a new education platform that will break through the traditional system. We aim to educate and nurture innovative talent through discovery and inspiration. Understanding and appreciation of the indigenous culture and natural environment will be the main theme for learning, along with emphasis on a bilingual education in English and Chinese, as well as character education. In 2012, we've accepted 56 seventh graders, all from underprivileged backgrounds, relying on our scholarship porgram. We hope to create a sustainable education development plan for children living in remote areas, providing the talent but underprivileged scholarship opportunities to have a chance at education, in hopes that they can one day return to their villages to create further positive impact... We hope to develop sustainable businesses, to create opportunities in the Huatung (Hualien and Taitung) region, allowing the people to stay in their hometown, thereby preventing skip-generation upbringing and preserving the family unit...
